Bunny Care Guide

Thank you for welcoming one of our bunnies into your family! This guide will help your new bunny thrive in its forever home.

 

🏡 Homing & Housing

Your bunny should have a safe, clean, and spacious environment.

 

Recommended Housing:

•  Bunny-proofed room, or large enclosure

• Solid flooring with soft bedding or mats, we recommend a drop cage

• Access to fresh food and water at all times

• A hiding area where your bunny can feel secure

• Supervised free-roam time

 

Bunny-Proofing:

• Cover or secure electrical cords

• Remove toxic plants and household chemicals

• Block access to small spaces where your bunny could get stuck

• Keep valuables and chewable items out of reach

 

🥗 Diet & Nutrition

A proper diet is essential for your bunny's health.

Daily Diet:

✅ Unlimited grass hay (Timothy, Alfalfa, Orchard, or Meadow Hay)

✅ Fresh water available 24/7

✅ High-quality rabbit pellets, we recommend Kent 17 Family Hutch 

✅ Fresh leafy greens introduced gradually

 

Healthy Treats (In Moderation):

• Small pieces of apple (no seeds)

• Banana

• Strawberries

• Blueberries

• Carrots (occasional treat)

• Lemon Balm

• Dandelions

• Clover

• Fresh Parsley

• Fresh Basil

• Fresh Dill

• Fresh Cilantro

• Fresh Romaine Lettuce

 

🚫 Foods & Items to Avoid

Never feed:

• Iceberg lettuce

• Chocolate

• Candy or sugary snacks

• Bread, crackers, or processed foods

• Onions, garlic, or chives

• Avocado

• Rhubarb

• Fruit seeds or pits

Avoid:

• Cedar or pine shavings

• Wire-bottom cages

• Unsupervised outdoor housing

• Extreme temperatures

 

Routine Care:

• Regular nail trimming

• Inspect their teeth! Too long of teeth can harm your bunny! Be sure to provide plenty of chew sticks (apple wood, mineral blocks, etc.) Do your research on what to buy to ensure what you buy for your bunny is chew safe for them! Not every store carries safe alternatives for them to chew even if advertised as such. 

• Grooming as needed. Take care of their fur as it can get very knotted and very painful for your bunnny

 

🚽 Litter Training

Most rabbits can be successfully litter trained.

 

Supplies:

• Large litter box

• Pelletized kiln-dried pine litter

• Hay rack or hay placed near the litter box

Steps:

1. Place the litter box in the area your bunny naturally uses.

2. Add hay to encourage use.

3. Place droppings in the litter box to reinforce the location.

4. Reward good litter habits with praise and healthy treats.

 

Avoid:

• Clumping cat litter

• Clay-based litter

• Scented litter products

 

🤝 Socialization & Bonding

• Allow your bunny time to adjust to its new home.

• Let your bunny approach you on its own.

• Spend time sitting on the floor to build trust.

• Handle gently and support the hindquarters.

• Supervise interactions with children and other pets.

• Never house 2 bunnies together unless your doing a supervised breeding. If your doing a breeding, after the breeding remove the bunnies and put them back into their separated cages. During the breeding supervise to make sure it was successful and to ensure they don't fight. Always house them seperate, they can fight!
